Soups Not a Starter

So yet again the GAA allstar “committee” in an effort to whip up a bit of publicity have made another controversial omission.

Soups omission from the nominees list has had reaction ranging from anger to disbelief.

What is the All Stars reduced too if one of the, in my view top five footballers in ireland and certainly one of the most influential players in the All Ireland winning team doesnt get a nomination?

Some, even Armagh fans have argued that because he didnt start all games he was rightfully left out.

This doesnt even make sense there were several players nominated whose teams didnt even reach the semi finals.

i could see the rot setting in when McGinley of Tyrone said on the sunday game, three times, that soup didnt mean the pass for the crucial goal, in the All Ireland final.

If the man said he meant it, he meant it.

Just because skill like that isnt seen that often these days, doesnt mean he didnt mean it.

i have seen him make the exact same pass at Davitt on many many occasions, but mcginley seemed adamant for some reason.

No Soup wasnt a starter Soup was the finisher.

He was the talisman of that Armagh team, the spark that lit fires in Croke park and other grounds several times this year.

Without him Armagh would simply not have won the All Ireland.

The arguments will rage, but long after many of the All Stars will have been forgotten Soup will retain the All Ireland medal in his pocket and the legendary status he has achieved in Armagh and the rest of Ireland.

How many players are recognised throughout the length of ireland with one word Jacko Gooch Bomber Star Soup (the finisher)

Congrats to all the other Armagh nominees and if Barry McCambridge doesnt get player of the year and Hughes the keeper spot theres gonna be a riot.
