Manus Monday Rugby

It was a mixed bag of results on the rugby front for local teams this weekend.

Portadown RFC enjoyed great success with the 2xv & 3xv registering healthy wins.

The 2’s ran out 52-7 winners against Navan meanwhile the 3’s won 53-32 against Lisburn.

Midweek the club hosted a series of ‘Coach the Coaches’ sessions where Alistair Toal (CCRO) carried out coach training for the mini and youth coaches with the aim of developing a structured coaching pathway for all coaches.

Luck certainly wasn’t with the Lurgan lads as Lurgan RFC 1XV & 2XV both shipped losses against Enniskillen.

The 1’s came up on the wrong side of a 47-18 score meanwhile the 2’s failed to score in a 22-0 result.

The Lurgan Tigers were out in force smashing tackle bags and being put through their paces by the club coaches on Saturday morning. As ever the youngest members of the club gave 100% commitment to their training session while the P7’s took part in their first blitz of the season.

Portadown College were on the road against a very strong Bangor Grammar.

1XV lost 36-5 while 2XV went down 32-5 and the Medallion also lost 19-7. It is still early in the season and the lads will pick themselves up, learn the the hard lessons and push ahead for the rest of the season.
